Compensation and BenefitsThe Higher Education Coordinating Board offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, which adds approximately 30 percent to employees’ base salaries. As state employees, Higher Education Coordinating Board employees receive the following benefits: Insurance Employees and their families are covered by medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as basic life and long-term disability insurance plans. Retirement/Deferred Compensation Employees can choose either a defined benefit plan (PERS 2) or a combined defined benefit/defined contribution plan (PERS 3). In addition, the state offers a Deferred Compensation program for additional tax-deferred retirement investment savings. Visit the Department of Retirement Systems for more information. Vacation and Leave Leave benefits for classified employees include 12-22 days of vacation per year; 11 paid holidays; 12 days of paid sick leave per year; newborn, adoptive, and emergency child care leave; leave without pay for maternity and education; paid leave for jury or other civil duties; and leave for military service. Exempt staff members receive all of the above leave and accrue the maximum 22 days of vacation per year.
