Legislative Matters

The HECB participates in Washington’s legislative process by sponsoring legislation and providing information and analysis used to develop new laws.

HECB reports and and analysis cover performance and accountability, financing, governance, tuition policy, financial aid, system design, new degree development, program review, and many other timely subjects. 

During each legislative session, the HECB provides analysis of proposed laws and tracks the progress of legislation affecting higher education institutions, stakeholders, and the public. This information is available on the HECB's legislative blog and through this website.

Following each session, the HECB provides a final wrap-up and analysis of the laws passed, as well as a budget summary. The HECB also maintains an online archive of past legislative summaries going back to 2003 -- Previous sessions.
